Halloween Spooktacular

halloween postcard

What better way to spend a crisp October evening than a haunted party at the Linscheid Library? Okay, there may be better ways. However, they don’t involve seeing the library workers & patrons dressed up in their Halloween costumes, or watching awesome spooky movies in the library.

Join us on Oct. 29 for a creepy night of fun. You’ll be treated to The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a silent horror movie, with live musical accompaniment. Take pictures in a real coffin with a selection of our scariest books, and find out your future with amazing fortune-telling.

Younger children are welcome, with fun Halloween mask and frame decorating set up especially for them. Make sure to stay to the end of the night to enter the costume contest, complete with fabulous prizes for the best student, staff, and child costumes.

The Halloween party will take place on Oct. 29th from 4pm—7pm.

DVDs Available for Checkout

Did you know that the Linscheid Library has thousands of DVDs?  You can now browse all the library’s DVDs, at any time the library is open, and check out any DVD in the library. They are located just past the Circulation Desk to the left, near the Oklahoma Studies Collection.

We’ve made it even easier for you to find what you’re looking for by sorting the DVDs into two sections, called Education and Entertainment. TV shows and movies are in Entertainment, and documentaries and instructional films are in Education. Use the DVDs to catch up on classes, watch the latest Oscar winners, or to brush up on the classics.

Students can check out three DVDs for three days at a time, which means your weekends can be spent watching things like Game of Thrones, Inception, and Blazing Saddles from Entertainment, or films like Human Planet, Walking With Dinosaurs, and Ken Burns’ The War from Education. Faculty have 14 days to enjoy their DVDs, and they can put DVDs on reserve or check them out at any time–just call the Circulation Department and they’ll make sure that you have what you need for your classes.
