How Social Trauma Affects How We Write : Post 9/11 Rhetorical Theory and Composition Pedagogy

Dr. Robin Murphy, Assistant Professor in ECU’s Department of English and Languages, will be discussing her dissertation as a book and recent chapter in The Philosophy of Joss Whedon on March 13 @ 3PM in the Library Atrium as a part LLAF’s spring events.

The book, How Social Trauma Affects How We Write: Post 9/11 Rhetorical Theory and Composition Pedagogy, extends the role of composition to civic education with a focus on 21st Century literacy practices. The co-authored chapter applies Nietzsche’s theory of the ‘overman’ to select characters of popular culture producer, Joss Whedon, creator of cult-classics such as Buffy, Dr. Horrible, and Angel, among others.
